Job Overview
As a Night Supervisor, you’ll take responsibility for the smooth, safe running of the Winter Night Shelter.
You’ will be awake and alert throughout the shift (10 pm – 8 am), ensuring the safety and welfare of guests, coordinating volunteers, and maintaining a calm, welcoming environment.
You’ll carry out regular checks, respond to incidents, oversee venue security, and ensure that all health, safety, and safeguarding procedures are followed. Compassion, professionalism, and resilience are essential in this vital frontline role.
You’ll work alongside up to two volunteers each night and liaise closely with the Project Coordinator and Deputy CEO.
Skills and Qualifications required
- Empathetic and calm under pressure, with a genuine commitment to supporting people in crisis.
- Experienced in working with people who are homeless or other vulnerable adults.
- Confident in managing challenging behaviour and supporting volunteers.
- Reliable, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, and respectful of our faith-based ethos.
Desirable:
- Training in first aid, health & safety, or trauma-informed practice.
- Previous experience working or volunteering in homelessness, housing, or community services.
Hours per week
Between 2-4 nights per week (10 pm – 8 am)
