Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Computer & Laptop Technician to join our team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining laptops, desktops, and related peripherals.

The role requires excellent troubleshooting skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Diagnostics and Repairs: 

Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software issues on laptops and desktops.

Repair or replace faulty components, such as screens, motherboards, keyboards, and hard drives.

Perform soldering or micro-soldering tasks when required.

2. Software Installation and Maintenance:

Install, configure, and update operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux) and software applications.

Resolve software-related issues, including system crashes, malware infections, and performance optimisation.

3. Customer Support:

Provide clear communication and updates to customers regarding repair status and findings.

Advise customers on preventive maintenance and best practices to extend the life of their devices.

4. Testing and Quality Control:

Test repaired devices thoroughly to ensure full functionality before returning them to customers.

Maintain a high standard of quality control for all repairs and services.

5. Inventory and Documentation:

Maintain an organised inventory of spare parts and tools.

Document all repair processes, findings, and customer interactions accurately.

6. Upgrades and Customisations:

Assist customers with hardware upgrades, such as memory (RAM), storage drives (HDD/SSD), and graphics cards.

Provide customisation services based on customer needs.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

Proven experience in computer and laptop repair, preferably in a professional setting.

Strong knowledge of hardware components and their functionalities.

Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving both hardware and software issues.

Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software.

Basic soldering skills and experience with micro-soldering are a plus.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Certification such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or equivalent is desirable.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry computer equipment up to [weight limit, e.g., 20kg].

Dexterity to handle small tools and components.

 

Essential Certifications:

CompTIA A+ Hardware, software, and troubleshooting basics.

CompTIA Network Networking fundamentals and troubleshooting.

Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Windows OS.*

Certified Hardware Technician (CHT) 

Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hardware issues.

Advanced/Optional Certifications:

Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) Specialised in macOS repairs.

CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) Introduction to IT for less-experienced technicians.

Lenovo Service Training Certifications Lenovo-specific laptop and hardware repair training.

Dell EMC Certified Technician Certification for servicing Dell products.

Specialised Certifications:

Certified Electronics Technician (CET) Advanced hardware diagnostics and micro-soldering.

Soldering Certification (e.g., IPC J-STD-001) Focused on micro-soldering and electronic repairs.

CompTIA Security+ Knowledge in data security and secure configurations.
