Volunteer roles

Apply for one or more of the following volunteer roles using the contact form at the bottom of this page. You must be 18+ for all roles.

Warehouse Operative

8am – 4pm Mon-Sat

You'll be trained to assist with the day-to-day operation of the FareShare warehouse. You will be responsible for ensuring that stock in the warehouse is of good quality, properly sorted and stored and available for delivery to our Community Food Members.

You may be trained to pick orders for our Community Food Members and also book in food which arrives from our delivery partners. You may also at times act as a driver’s mate and assist the delivery drivers to distribute produce to our Community Food Members.

Driver

8am – 4pm Mon-Sat

You will be responsible for safely transporting frozen, chilled and other goods around the East Midlands area:

  • Safely driving vans to deliver and collect food
  • Representing FareShare in a courteous and professional manner at all times
  • Carrying out routine checks on the vans, taking responsibility for the vans throughout the day and reporting accidents or damage to the van or other vehicles
  • Completing all relevant paperwork
  • Planning routes, sorting food, picking orders, loading and unloading vans
  • Assist in the maintenance of the vans including cleaning.

Driver’s Assistant

8am – 4pm Mon-Sat

  • Travelling with designated van drivers around London to deliver and collect food
  • Representing FareShare in a courteous and professional manner at all times
  • Supporting drivers to carry out routine checks on the vans, taking responsibility for the vans throughout the day and reporting accidents or damage to the van or other vehicles
  • Supporting drivers to complete all relevant paperwork
  • Planning routes, sorting food, picking orders, loading and unloading vans
  • Assisting with maintenance of the vans including cleaning.
