Leicester Employment Hub’s Unlocking Opportunities project is working to help ex-offenders into employment.

The Employment Hub’s team of Account Managers engage with employers across the city and county, encouraging them to recruit ex-offenders, including explaining the business benefits, such as reducing initial recruitment and job advertising costs, resolving skills shortages, reducing staff absence and increasing staff retention. Once roles are brokered, they are then advertised on the Employment Hub’s website and promoted to partner organisations including the DWP, Ingeus, the New Futures Project and the Leicestershire and Rutland Probation Trust.

Staff from the Employment Hub’s team also visit HMP on a weekly basis, to engage with individuals and promote job opportunities to those who are close to being released, links are then maintained upon their release. The Employment Hub has also worked in collaboration with HMP Leicester to run recruitment events in the Prison. As well as this, the Hub has ben working with the Leicestershire and Rutland Probation Trust and the DWP to run recruitment events for ex-offenders outside of prison.
