About Us
St Margaret's Pastures Sports Centre is a vibrant hub of community sport and activity in the heart of Leicester operated by Leicester Hockey Club CIC. In addition to the community sports facilities the Centre is the home of Leicester City Hockey Club which operates teams at national, regional, county and academy level whilst providing an England Hockey Talent Centre. We pride ourselves on providing excellent facilities and a welcoming environment for local sports clubs, groups, and individuals to stay active and connected.
We are now seeking an organised, energetic, and efficient Sports Centre Manager to take the reins this July and lead our day-to-day operations.
The Role
As the Sports Centre Manager, you will be the driving force behind the smooth running of our facilities. You will oversee daily operations, manage and be responsible for the staff, engage with local sports clubs, and facilities users and ensure our visitors always have a safe and fantastic experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the sports centre and staff, ensuring maximum efficiency and compliance.
• Act as the primary point of contact for local sports clubs, leagues, and casual users.
• Represent the organisation at various groups
• Oversee facility bookings, scheduling, and staff rotas.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness across the site.
• Monitor basic budgets and assist with financial administration such as invoicing customers.
Summary of job tasks
- Manages allocated human, material and financial resources allowing sufficient time and adequate resources for tasks to be completed safely.
- Provides information, instruction, training and supervision as required to ensure that staff can fulfil their H&S duties and responsibilities
- Sets the standards and safety culture whilst being an exemplar of safe work practices and enforcing safety including arrangements for dealing with foreseeable emergencies on the site, including the evacuation of premises.
- Operation of financial systems including income reconciliation, invoicing, cash control, purchasing and sales.
- Organisation and supervision of special events, exhibitions, and where appropriate major incidents as a rest centre etc.
- Addresses operational, maintenance and technical problems in an efficient and effective manner.
- Ensures the marketing and promotion of the available facilities.
- Oversees and develops a range of administrative tasks (e.g. correspondence, bookings, provision of goods and supplies, maintenance of records, etc).
- Deals with customer enquiries and complaints and ensures appropriate responses directly and through developing operational practice.
- Ensures appropriate materials and equipment are available and used safely.

Skills and Qualifications required
Essential Criteria:
- Supervisory management training.
- Supervisory experience, preferably gained within a leisure or service environment.
- Implementing and operating safe working practices
- Use of financial systems
- The right to live and work in the UK.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Customer service Skills
- Ability to motivate staff and create team spirit.
- Financial, administrative and stock control ability.

• First Aid at work.
• Sports development qualification/experience
