Job Overview
Job purpose:
To play a senior role in helping implement the North West Leicestershire Economic Growth
Plan, by leading the formulation and delivery of specific initiatives and projects.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• To play a specialist role in one or more of the following activities of the council’s Economic
Regeneration Service:
o Enterprise, Business, Skills and Intelligence
o Town Centre, Investment, Marketing and Promotion
o Visitor Economy Development
o Regeneration and Economic Infrastructure Projects.
• To demonstrate a proactive approach to supporting the district’s urban and rural places to
thrive and grow including identifying and delivering strategies which: increase retail
occupancy levels, increase visitor numbers, bring new indigenous and inward investment,
stimulate business creation and growth, deliver new and renewed economic infrastructure,
develop skills and employability and increase local spend.
• To develop partnerships and working relationships at all levels (from national down to very
local) which contribute positively to the delivery of initiatives which further the wellbeing of
residents of the district.
• To ensure the Council’s policies and strategies appropriately reflect the needs of the local
economy and ensure the Council maximises its opportunities to work with and learn from
businesses. To work with colleagues in other service departments across the Council to
ensure the economic development opportunities arising from the delivery of their services is
captured as fully as possible.
• To identify funding sources then lead and / or support development and submission of
funding applications to support economic growth initiatives, including preparations of bids to
the local enterprise partnership and government.

groups?
• Do you have previous experience of working on town centre, heritage, arts, events
or visitor economy initiatives?
