Job Overview

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about providing excellent experience for all visitors to join our team of dedicated staff. You’ll contribute to ensuring Leicester’s museums have a safe and secure environment and works being carried out are compliant with essential regulatory standards.  You will also support a colleague in supervision of volunteers at Abbey Pumping Station, providing cover in their absence.

This is a part-time, permanent position working 18.5 hours per week typically working Monday to Friday while occasionally including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays. You’ll be based at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, however you will work across other sites within the Service. 

 

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as a part of the operations team you will play a critical role in the development of facility management practices, meeting essential requirements across several of disciplines (Health & Safety, Security, Environment, Quality Customer Service) to support a range of business activities across Leicester Museums & Galleries.

You'll play a key role in development of procedures, co-ordinating planned / reactive maintenance, audit checks while on occasions supervising volunteer tasks involving industrial heritage working collections.

 

What you’ll need

You’ll have previous experience of managing health & safety and risk management, supervision of tasks within the field of mechanical engineering & pressure vessels, and conversant with regulatory requirements in reference to public buildings. An excellent communicator, you will be able to engage with internal and external stakeholders and build strong working relationships at all levels.

Proficient in the use of ICT and administrative tasks and ideally have experience of managing public buildings / venue within a heritage / visitor attractions sector, while having sound budget management skills.  With the ability to multi-task, you’ll be effective in troubleshooting, problem solving and responding to a range of operational needs and risk management. Highly organised, with the ability to self-manage and a flexible approach, you’ll be committed to Leicester Museums & Galleries and creating a professional and positive working environment.
