Job Overview
Male Personal Care Assistant
A severe adult disabled wheelchair user man, who lives in Knighton, Leicester LE2, is looking to appoint a male PA who can work flexibly, for up to 20 hours per week. This will include some fixed mornings 08.00-12.00 and fixed evenings 20.30-22.00, plus some flexible hours.
The PA will assist in all areas of personal and domestic need as required, and act as an escort and aid to the employer’s social and day to day activities. A driving licence is essential.
Duties (As required, instructed or directed by employer)
Assist with personal care support, including showering, bathing, toileting etc
Assist employer to go to & get up from bed.
Assist with dressing.
Assist with transfers to and from wheelchair.
Preparation of breakfast
Assist employer with General household duties including -
Dusting/ vacuuming/ polish/ mop/ empty bins/ make and change bed/ laundry/ cleaning of rooms.
Washing up.
Assistance with shopping and associated tasks.
Driving to other business & social meetings/events
To provide assistance at the right time, enabling the employer to lead an independent/individual life in their own home within the community.
Pay rate: £17.37 plus holiday pays and all employment benefits
The PA should :- • Establish close working relationship on a one to one basis. • Maintain confidentiality, resect privacy of employer. • Have current driving licence. The PA’s attitude:— • Appreciate stresses & strains of disabled employer, and the effect this can have on the acceptance of help. • Understand that the preservation of dignity & independence is important. PA Qualities Required Should be: Reliable & trustworthy Able to accept responsibility Able to work on own, and as part of team Work with initiative if necessary Clean and have no unhygienic habits Willing to learn the job well Diligent and conscientious. General Information • No qualifications or experience needed, just willing to learn. • Paid every 4 weeks directly into your bank account.
