1. Purpose of the role
Line Operatives are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of designated converting line equipment (e.g. Rewinder, Wrapper, Core Winder), ensuring all activities comply with quality, productivity, and legal requirements while maintaining product safety throughout the production process.
2. Scope of the role
Line Operatives are responsible for the efficient and effective operation of a designated area within the converting lines. The role involves maintaining consistent product quality, minimising downtime and waste, and ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Championing safety as the highest priority through your actions, behaviours, and decision-making.
• Working in line with Navigator Tissue UK’s principles and values at all times.
• Collaborating as part of a team across a designated area of the converting lines to support delivery of the business plan.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, health & safety, and quality at all times.
• Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure converting equipment operates at optimum performance.
• Carrying out hourly quality control checks, completing all documentation accurately and on time, and reporting any non-conformances to the Supervisor.
• Ensuring all production documentation is completed accurately, escalating any concerns or downtime to the Supervisor.
• Operating process equipment as required by the business, with a strong working knowledge to support changeovers and resolve simple machine faults.
• Supporting changeovers as directed and guided by the Supervisor.
• Working collaboratively with production, technical, and support teams to maximise productivity.
• Assisting in the identification of equipment issues or breakdowns, escalating unresolved issues promptly to minimise production disruption.
• Working to the production schedule to ensure products are manufactured to the correct specification and meet customer requirements.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives as directed.
• Ensuring product safety and legality are maintained throughout all stages of the production process.
• Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
Skills and Qualifications required
- Level 1 Literacy (essential)
- Basic level of IT eg: ECDL or equivalent (desirable)
- 1+ years in manufacturing (essential)
- Experience of working as part of a team (essential)
Must be flexible working cross site between Thurmaston, LE4 8PH and Optimus Point, LE3 8JS for a temporary period, with the view of being based at Optimus Point, LE3 8JS by the end of 2026.
Hours per week
12 hour shifts 2-2-4 (2 days: 6am - 6pm, 2 nights: 6pm - 6am, 4 days off)
