Job Overview
To maintain Care skills at a current level and undertake such training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain that currency of practice.
To provide Care in accordance with current best practice, according to policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations under the direction of the Manager, and within the financial plans agreed from time-to-time.
Skills and Qualifications required
*Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Willingness to complete mandatory training (e.g. Safeguarding Adults, Medication Awareness, First Aid, Health & Safety, Moving & Handling)
Desirable
- Existing care-related qualification (e.g. Care Certificate, NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3)
- Training or experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
*Experience
Essential
- Understanding of person-centred support and promoting independence
Desirable
- Experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs
- Experience delivering activities, group sessions or 1 to 1 engagement
- Experience supporting individuals with communication needs or behaviours of concern
*Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- Ability to support service users with daily living, activities, personal care (where required) and social inclusion
- Good communication skills and ability to adapt communication
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow care plans and risk assessments
- Basic IT skills to record notes and complete training
Desirable
- Knowledge of Makaton, PEC or other communication approaches
- Understanding of health conditions, sensory needs and learning disability rights
- Creativity in planning or delivering meaningful activities
