Job Overview
Key responsibilities
• To provide a secure and stimulating environment for young children ensuring that their social, physical, intellectual, emotional and creative development is enhanced.
• To offer play and learning opportunities, which meet the developmental needs of each individual child, working with the principles of early learning goals and the EYFS.
• To make sure outside play is appropriate, safe and supervised.
• To monitor the child’s progress and development.
• To ensure the keeping of appropriate records.
• To be able to deputise in the absence of the manager.
• To attend appropriate training courses and workshops in consultation with the provision manager.
• To liaise with parents and carers on a regular basis.
• To work in partnership with other childcare providers to deliver services to the under 11s.
• All staff are responsible for following the settings policies and procedures.
• To be able to manage and co-ordinate the team, daily routine, policies and procedures in order to maintain the high level of standards required in the efficient running of a room.
• To undertake the personal care of children within the setting.
• To provide meals and snacks which meet the dietary and cultural needs of the children.
• To participate in team and programme meetings.
Additional Duties
All employees are expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises so that tasks which are not specifically covered in their job descriptions are undertaken.
Skills and Qualifications required
• NVQ level 3 or equivalent
• 2 years experience within a childcare setting or similar
Hours per week
40 - 8am -6pm
