Job Overview
VetiGraph is a leading supplier of CAD/CAM and PLM solutions to the fashion and apparel, home furnishings, upholstery and other industries working with soft materials.
We are looking for a motivated and technically minded person to join our team as a CAD/CAM Trainer & Technical Support Technician.
A working knowledge of soft-material design and production is important for this role. You should have an understanding of areas such as apparel, pattern making, textiles, upholstery, furniture or other industries where soft materials are designed and manufactured. This knowledge will provide the foundation for learning how VetiGraph’s CAD/CAM systems are used in real-world production environments.
This is a varied, hands-on role that combines customer training, software support, CAD/CAM technology and machinery.
You will develop a broad range of skills across VetiGraph CAD/CAM and PLM systems, while also learning how CNC cutting equipment and related machinery operates. As your knowledge grows, you will help customers get the most from their systems, solve technical problems, support installations and train operators in the safe and effective use of both software and machinery.
The role is ideal for someone who enjoys learning, working with technology and dealing with people. It is not a desk-bound position: you will spend time at our Leicester office and training facility, work remotely with customers, and travel to customer sites across the UK, with occasional overseas travel.
Full training will be provided on VetiGraph systems. You will have the opportunity to build knowledge and practical experience in a number of areas, including:
• CAD and PLM software used in professional production environments.
• CAM systems and the operation of CNC cutting machinery.
• Technical troubleshooting, diagnostics and remote customer support.
• Customer training, demonstrations and system implementation.
• Machine installation, set-up and safe operation, working alongside our engineers.
• Software testing, identifying issues and preparing clear bug reports.
• Creating training materials and documentation.
• Working with technology suppliers in the UK, Europe and China.
Key responsibilities
• Customer support: Provide friendly and effective support to customers both on site and remotely, helping them resolve software and technical issues.
• Training & demonstrations: Deliver training to individuals and small groups on CAD/CAM systems, and demonstrate software solutions to prospective and existing customers.
• System implementation: Assist with implementations from initial preparation through installation, training and handover, ensuring customers are confident using their new systems.
• CAM machinery support: Learn the operation of CNC cutters and related CAM machinery so you can support customers, troubleshoot problems and train operators in safe working practices.
• Machine installation: Work alongside our engineers when machinery is delivered to customer sites, assisting with assembly, set-up and commissioning.
• Technical troubleshooting: Investigate problems by phone, email and remote-access software, identifying practical solutions and escalating issues when specialist assistance is required.
• Supplier liaison: Liaise with VetiGraph’s suppliers in the UK, Europe and China to obtain technical information, resolve issues and support customer requirements.
• Documentation: Help create and maintain training manuals, user guidance and other technical documentation.
• Software testing: Test new and updated software, identify issues and produce clear bug reports for development teams.
Skills and Qualifications required
• A working knowledge of soft-material design and production, such as apparel, pattern making, textiles, upholstery, furniture or related industries.
• Knowledge and understanding of pattern making and grading, manual or digital, and an understanding of garment production.
• An interest in CAD/CAM, digital design and technology. Previous CAD or PLM experience is an advantage, but full VetiGraph training will be provided.
• Strong customer service skills and the confidence to work directly with customers.
