Job Overview

The apprenticeship fixed‑term contract is for 4 years; the qualification itself typically takes around 36 months to complete. Once you achieve the qualification and successfully complete your End Point Assessment, you may be able to progress into a qualified role sooner, subject to business need and successful performance.

You could be working on various vehicles that need repair or maintaining to make suitable and safe for staff that use them to get around the city and serve our customers. You’ll achieve a professional qualification, whilst gaining invaluable hands-on experience along the way.

You’ll spend some of your apprenticeship studying your chosen course at Brooksby College in Melton. You’ll be expected to make your own way there and back to and from the college. learning the theory behind your new skills you’ll be able to put them into practice in the workplace thereafter. Additionally, you will be supported in completing coursework or preparing for any exams.

Day to day, you’ll work on a range of vehicles mainly Light Vehicles. This involves moving and handling equipment and materials, using a variety of tools, working at heights using steps/ladders as well as crouching in confined spaces, and working outdoors, such as attending breakdowns and jumpstarts. Working closely with staff, you’ll undertake repairs and maintenance, diagnostics and servicing.

With the support of the team, you’ll provide advice & guidance to customers ensuring that they are kept informed of progress.
