Shared Lives Carer

Social Work Jobs

Shared Lives Leicestershire

Salary

£430 – £573

Location

Home Working (YOUR own home, not the home of your service users)

Job Overview

Flexible Working Hours Salary £430 - £573 (per week per client). Leicestershire Shared Lives Service is different to anything else offered in the Adult Social Care system as our carers provide person centred services tailored around the needs of their clients. Services are also provided in the carers home or in the community therefore delivering a more natural and real-life experience. We are looking for carers who want to help our clients to live life to the full. Carers must live in Leicestershire (not Leicester City), they could be tenants or homeowners, part of a family, single or living with pets – whatever your situation, we would like to hear from you! As a Shared Lives Carer, you will be self-employed. Leicestershire County Council will send you referrals of clients which you can choose to accept or decline as you wish.

The Shared Lives Short Break Carer provides overnight accommodation and activities in order to give full time carers a break or clients a change of scenery. You can provide short breaks in your own home or you can accompany clients on holiday (in which case, the client will contribute to your costs). You will have responsibility for no more than three clients at any one time. As a self-employed carer, you can work full time hours or fit the role of Short Break Carer around the responsibilities of your home life or another employment.

Shared Lives Service offers carers…

✅Excellent Pay (dependant on number of clients and services offered)

✅Generous Tax Breaks (£10,000 tax free allowance +)

✅Flexible Working options

✅Access to Blue Light and More4Leics Discount Schemes

✅Training (online and in person)

✅24-hour support from professionals, Shared Lives Plus and Shared Lives Carers in Leicestershire Our clients are adults from the age of 18, with learning disabilities, mental health, autism and Asperger’s, physical disabilities, sensory impairment or who are living with dementia, older people or who have lifelong disabilities and who need support in a homely environment.

Previous experience is not always necessary as each Shared Lives carer brings their own unique skills and experience to the job. We ask that you have a desire to help people, life experience and a commitment and positive approach to supporting vulnerable adults. We are looking for Shared Lives Carers who have a spare bedroom to support adults with physical or learning difficulties live independently by offering short term breaks (respite) - where the person comes to stay for the odd night, weekend or week. As a Shared Lives Carer for Short Breaks, you will provide personal care support, meals, support with accessing activities and include the client in your own family events. You may already be employed in the week and want to do this at weekends or during holiday periods.

If you want to find out more about our service or have an informal discussion, please contact sharedlives@leics.gov.uk or telephone on 0116 305 8133. The role will be subject to a DBS (Disclosure & Barring service) check. All Shared Lives Carers are classed as self-employed.
