Job Overview
Duties:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. To provide administrative support and services to all members of the Practice team. Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Job Description:
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice
- Answer the phone, dealing with all general enquiries and explain practice procedures
- Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail
- Make new and follow-up appointments
- Access and update patient records
- Contact patients to survey online access, with a view to moving them to online services, i.e. Prescriptions
- Manage registrations of new patients, explaining practice arrangements procedures
- Manage referrals of patients from other surgeries, updating patient records and completing any associated paperwork and electronically file copies of referrals
- Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are sent electronically
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts
- Enter patient information on to the computer as required
- File and retrieve paperwork
- Electronically file hospital letters
- Scan letters and relevant correspondence into patient’s notes
- Summarise patient’s notes when requested
- Photocopy data
- Ensure security of data at all times
- Using your own judgment and communication skills to ensure patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
- Undertaking any other additional duties as requested by the Partners or the Operations Manger
Please note: Full Training will be given. As with any apprenticeship opportunity – if you prove yourself to be a valuable member of the team there is a strong chance of a permanent post within the business.
Hours: Monday - Friday, working flexibly between 7.30am – 6.30pm Working hours are to be agreed between the above and core hours will be set.
Total hours per week: 31.5 – 38 hrs per week Pay Wage per hour - £4.15 (to be reviewed every three months)
