Part-time Support Worker – Hamilton Area Duties and responsibilities: An opportunity has arisen for a part-time flexible role for an experienced support worker to work with a lady requiring support with everyday activities including shopping, hospital/GP appointments, managing bills, social activities and so on. The individual requires 3 hour slots (typically 9am -12noon and occasional afternoons) of support for 3 specified weekdays totalling 9 hours. This post may be suitable for those looking to work during school hours. Skills, experience, and qualifications: • Must have an interest in helping other people in spite of their vulnerabilities. • A good listener who can also demonstrate the ability to problem-solve. • To be adaptable and responsive to fast-changing situations. • To demonstrate a high level of patience and be empathetic towards people. • To have good communication skills and clarity and sensitivity in all forms of conversations with service users, their families, and friends. • Very good verbal and written communication skills. • Good listening skills. • Be able to communicate effectively with Health and other Social care professionals. • Great problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt and act accordingly to situations. • Being non-judgemental in all situations regarding individual needs. • Being a team player and able to work independently. • Be able to form good and meaningful relationships with individuals and their families. • Have the ability to manage time in a way that benefits the needs of many individuals being cared for.
