Job Overview

Responsible to: Office Manager Responsible for: Food Service Volunteers/placements Job Description The Café Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Karibuni café. The Café Supervisor’s responsibilities will include cooking and preparing food on the current menu. Processing payments using the café's Point of Sale System and ensuring that the café is clean and well-presented at all times. You will demonstrate exemplary management and leadership skills and ensure that the café staff carry out all duties efficiently. You will also be utilising TREC’s ESOL language programme to the relevant staff/volunteers. Responsibilities: • Training and supervising of café volunteers/placements • Preparing weekly work schedules for staff and finding suitable replacements in cases of staff absence. • Ensuring that all café expenses are within budget and identifying ways to decrease operational costs. • Receiving delivered café supplies and verifying that the correct items and quantities have been delivered. • Taking inventory of café supplies and ordering new stock as needed. • Resolving customer complaints regarding food quality and customer service. • Suggesting new menu items based on customers' preferences and feedback. • Identifying strategies to retain and attract customers. Requirements: • Experience in the hospitality industry. • Relevant Food & Hygiene qualification. • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations. • Substantial experience of cooking African/Caribbean food. • Strong business acumen. • Exemplary management skills. • Excellent organisational and time management skills. • Effective communication skills. • Exceptional customer service skills. General Duties 1) Undergo regular line management supervision and attend TREC staff meetings. 2) Take part in identified training and development opportunities to support the role to include attendance at off-site activities appropriate to the development of the role. 3) Be responsible for the security of work location including the protection of confidential information. 4) Be responsible for ensuring that safe working practices are adopted and maintained in compliance with TREC health and safety procedures. 5) Ensure that the services developed are in accordance with TREC’s equal opportunities policy in order that the economic, social, and environmental initiatives are provided in a culturally sensitive and equitable manner. 6) Be cognisant of and always adhere to TREC’s confidentiality policy. Salary and Hours £11.50 p/hour for the first 2 weeks, whilst they are trained up to cook and prepare our current dishes. Once fully trained up they will be earning £13 p/hour and will be working 12-4pm, Monday to Thursday (Lunch Time shift) plus any additional shifts as and when required. Qualifications Required
