Job Overview

Jalaram Sadavrat Leicester Limited is a small registered charity providing meals on wheels service and community hub facilities to the those in need. The charity predominately services the South Asian Community in Leicester and its surroundings.

 

Purpose: Overall responsibility for running, maintaining and developing the charity to support the local community.

SUMMARY OF ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understand and implement the aims and objectives of the charity
• Assist the Director to review current provisions and strategy, and develop new services and/or expand and improve existing services
• Represent the charity in tandem with the Director in negotiations with suppliers, government departments, external organisations and other key contacts to secure competitive rates and contracts
• Supervises actions of the charity to continue to be financially viable and sustainable
• Actively seek out and apply for grants to support the charity
• Develop fundraising plans and events, and social media campaigns, and programs to attract and retain volunteers
• Develop and maintain quality management systems
• Provide regular internal reports and analysis on Centre service
• Assist the Director in the development and implementation of all necessary policies, protocols and procedures in line with the legislative and regulatory requirements for the charity, and ensure that all staff work within such policies, protocols and procedures
• Monitor the efficacy of such policies and procedures to ensure the charity complies with statutory regulations
• Co-ordinate and manage robust staff rotas, workloads and provisions (including transport, chefs, cleaning etc.) to ensure optimal service without compromise
• Create, maintain and utilise effective administrative systems in liaison with the Director
• Positively manage staff and resources of the charity to achieve the best possible service delivery
• Maintain the performance appraisal system including regular reviews and target setting for staff. Identify and provide training for all staff to support individual learning
• Provide advice and guidance to the Director and the Board of Directors on industry developments, changes and recommendations
• Attend all required meetings (internal and external) as Centre Manager, taking the lead as and when required by the Director
• Maintain effective and professional communication with customers, other members of the general public or collaborative organisations
• Liaise with other charities and agencies as appropriate to support the local community

• Continue to develop knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements impacting the charity
• Take reasonable care of the health and safety of yourself and all other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work
• Always respect the confidentiality of information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act

CORE SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES
• 3+ years’ experience as a manager
• Experienced leader
• 18+ months proven success and experience in raising funds and applying for grants
• Strong networker who can attract and retain volunteers
• Project Management experience
• Intermediate level with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT, Teams, Outlook) and Google Drive
• Six Sigma and/or Lean Principles experience desirable
• Touch-typing desirable
• Team player but works on own initiative
• Tenacity to achieve results

• Learns from experience and share knowledge with others

• Excellent communication (verbal and written) in English and Gujarati
