Faculty / Directorate: The Estates & Facilities Directorate is large and diverse, employing circa 300 people, ranging from plumbers, engineers, carpenters, cleaners, porters, leisure centre assistants, to property management professionals, architects, project officers, CAD, space management, sustainability and energy and administrative personnel. The Leisure team seeks to offer participation in a diverse range of physical sports and wellbeing activities in our state of the art facilities. Services include memberships; reception; swimming pool; gym;sports hall; fitness suite and a climbing wall. Role: DMU is committed to excellence in the student experience and by joining the current leisure team you will demonstrate a thorough understanding of what it takes to provide excellent customer service, with a flexible approach to work and to the challenge of responding to rapidly changing priorities. You will enjoy working both as part of the fitness team and as part of the larger leisure centre team. You will be expected to use your initiative and, but will be supervised initially until obtaining each qualification. Maintaining a welcoming environment for all customers and to ensure the professional running of busy leisure facilities at all times. You will be highly motivated and have the ability to deal with customers in a professional and friendly manner, you will learn and be trained in all areas including as a lifeguard and within the busy fitness suite. The role is on a full time (37 hours per week), permanent basis. All successful candidates will be appointed to the first incremental point of the advertised salary banding. Ideal Candidate: You will be eager and willing to learn while undertaking your Level 2 Leisure Assistant Apprenticeship and will have a passion for wanting to start your career within the leisure industry. You will have good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to use basic Microsoft office packages. You will be required to work evenings and weekends as required, and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.
